I personally like it better when everything is clean and I don't need to dig through piles of clothes to find something. So, for other fellow clean freaks- here are some ideas on how you can organize your closet and clothes :)
Tops ♡
♥ Length of sleeves ♥
♥ Length of sleeves ♥
You can hang them from the length of their sleeves. You can start from tube tops, tank tops (thin to thick strap), short sleeves, quarter-inch sleeves, and long sleeves! Something like that. You can always change it from long sleeve-tube tops/tanks as well. This is how I organize my clothes. I feel like it works better for me because I can clearly see the length of my shirts and I don't "lose" my sleeve-less shirts in the long sleeves, make sense?
♥ Color code ♥
You can start with the lightest color tops to the darkest color or dark-light. I think this works if you have a lot of different colored clothes, but if a majority of your closet is the same color, I don't know. Like if you have a lot of dark colors (i.e. grey and black) you can start from the lightest shade of grey to solid black. Yay! Haha, I remember always wearing white, grey, or black shirts only. I rarely wore colored tops.
♥ Favorites/Most worn ♥
Another way you can organize your closet is from your most worn to least worn tops! You can put your most worn clothes where it's easy for you to reach it. You can also put your favorites/most worn tops in the most visible area and you can just hide other clothes you don't wear that much.
♥ Seasons ♥
Organizing your closet by season would be most suitable for people who experience weather changes. Like if it's always hot where you live, or always cold, I wouldn't suggest organzing your closet by season. But, if this is how you'd like to organize your closet, go for it! If it's summer time where you live, you can put your tank tops and short sleeve type of tops in the front of your closet. You can also put your summer time clothes in the easy to reach places. If you have a sliding door type of closet, here's an example!
You can organize your closets from left to right or right to left. Which ever one you always open, you can put the clothes you wear for the season it is!
Bottoms ♡
♥ Length ♥
Just like the tops, you can organize your bottoms by length (i.e. shorts, skirts, capris, pants, etc.) I think it's really self explanatory, right?!
♥ Color ♥
I don't really have much color in my bottoms, but if you do.. you can do your more colorful to your most plan and simple colored.
♥ Type ♥
Just like the "length" you can do that. You can put all your shorts together, all your skirts together, all your leggings, and all your jeans. Simple right?
♥ Seasons ♥
As mentioned in the tops, you can organize your bottoms according to season. You can put the clothes you wear most often during the current season also.
Dresses ♡
♥ Sleeve length ♥
I think you get the idea, right? You either organize it from no sleeves-long sleeved dresses, whether it is from right to left or left to right.
♥ Overall length ♥
When I say overall length, I mean if the dress is above your knees, at your knees, below the knees, or to your ankles.
♥ Type ♥
I like to organize my dresses like this and I combine this ideas with the sleeve length as well! If you have different kinds of dresses, you can organize it from your summer-y, party/school events (like homecoming, winter formal), formal, church (if you go to church), and whatever type of dresses you have!
♥ Color ♥
This will be more difficult for people who have dresses that have multiple colors, but if you have dresses that are solid colors or have more of one color than another, it's more suitable for ya! You can organize it like your shades of red, white, grey/black, green, yellow, orange, and basically whatever color dresses you have.
Undies ♡
♥ Color ♥
You can arrange your undies according to it's color. For example, shades of red, pink, tye-dye, stripes, nudes, etc!
♥ Type ♥
For girls and even for guys, we have different kinds of undies. For girls, they can be your old and comfortable undies you wear during "that time of the month", your lace undies, thongs, bikini, boy short, cheeksters, etc. For guys, you have you boxers, briefs, and trunks?! Lol.
♥ More tips ♥
- Besides shoving your underwear into your drawer or whatever you use, you can fold them nicely :)
- You can also place your favorite and most worn undies in the front of the drawer and hide your undies you use specifically during your period.
Socks ♡
♥ Color ♥
You can arrange your socks by color. For example, when you place them in a drawer, you can have all your colorful (solids and patterned) socks, black socks, and white socks in different drawers of the same drawer but in different parts of it :)
♥ Type ♥
If you have specific socks you wear to work or school because you have a uniform, you can arrange it like that! If you need white or black socks only for work, you can dedicate a whole drawer or half a drawer to those. If you don't have a lot of socks you can half the space with your work/school socks with your christmas, fuzzy, ankle, and flat socks (like for your flats).
Other tips to staying organized ♡
- If you have clothes you haven't worn in a year, then most likely you won't wear it.. ever! So might as well get rid of it. If they still have tags on them, you can use them as gifts. If you've worn it once or a couple times, you can always donate to charity.
- If you have old clothes you never wear, you can donate them as well.
- You can also give your old clothes to other family members, you can ask them if they want it. Sometimes younger siblings like wearing their older siblings clothes. For example, if your older brother has clothes he doesn't wear anymore, you can use his shirts for pajamas or practice clothes.
- Sometimes we have clothes that we value or just don't want to give away. For example, family clothing.. maybe it was a present or something your grandparents of your parents gave you or your school shirts, you can put those in a box. You might even be able to use them as pajamas if they're comfortable!
- Always get rid of things you don't need or wear. It takes up more space and once you get rid of the things you really don't need, you might even have a lot more space than you would think!
- When you get rid of things, instead of feelings bad for throwing them away.. always, always, always try to donate them! Unless they're like in a really bad condition.. I don't think that'll work out.
